LEGISLATION GOOD NEWS
Sensing a theme…? As EU's regulatory dominos begin to fall global manufacturing will be affected for the better, Canada's new greenwashing law - which requires companies to support greenwashing claims with data - stands to hold global manufacturing to account, Australia's Seamless Clothing Stewardship scheme became operational last month and incentivizes circularity, and California's Responsible Textile Recovery Act is making its way to the governor's desk.
Circular economy initiatives are critical to the first U.S. Congressional Slow Fashion Caucus, which includes representatives backed by Patagaonia, ThredUp, Remake and The RealReal, among others. And I'm so proud to have helped bring this amazing group of youth to Washington D.C. to advocate on behalf of our world's oceans. Go, Big Blue!
GOOD NEWS FOR KAMALA
Kamala Harris puts it in perspective: “I care about the environment not because I have any particular desire to hug a tree, but I have a strong desire to hug a healthy baby.” Remember the big Exxon Mobil investigation in California or the Volkswagen emissions cheating scandal expose? Both are thanks to Harris. These efforts and more are why she just nabbed a critical endorsement from the Green New Deal Network.
